About this session
Django's website has a dark theme. Many developers around the world use it every day. Some never even noticed it appear. Others switched immediately and never looked back.
Either way, there's a story behind it.
This talk walks through the complete arc of that contribution: the motivation, the implementation details, the review process, and what it meant to get it across the finish line on one of the most widely used frameworks in the Python ecosystem.
A practical and personal look at open source contribution: what it takes, what you learn, and why it matters more than you might think.
